FUJITO JAPAN: STYLE AND FUNCTION COME TOGETHER
The design ethos of Japanese brands is generally speaking vastly different from European and American counterparts. The Japanese rather focus on specializing on one specific piece or garment and perfect it by adding little tweaks. New to Tenue de Nîmes from SS18 onwards, Fujito is hailing from Fukuoka, a city in the South of Japan, on the island of Kyushu. With Tokyo more than a thousand kilometres away, the city is still home to over 1.5 million people, boasting an impressive skyline, especially compared to our modest Dutch standards.
Go Fujito launched his eponymous brand in 2002, with the flagship store - named ‘Directors’ - opening its doors six years later. Coincidentally, exactly in the same year we made our first steps in retail with our first Tenue de Nîmes location in Amsterdam. We adore the coats Fujito manufactures. Brimming with all kinds of nifty and handy details, the coats are manufactured in Japan by highly skilled craftsmen.
Made from light-weight ventile cotton, thus water-resistant and ideal for wearing all year round. Fujito follows the Japanese habit of layering. Combine the coats with a Tenue de Nîmes Fonda Jacket in autumn and winter, or wear it over your shirt or tee during spring and summer nights. Available in white and navy, Fujito is another gem from the land of the rising sun.
