Skateboarding legends Vans and Alva Skates created a collection inspired by Tony Alva's creative journey on and off the board. In a nod to both brand's roots, it contains three UA Authentic 44 styles (Alva's favourite skate shoes), and eye-catching apparel all perfect for shredding in.
Long time Vans team rider and one of the original Z-boys, Tony Alva is perhaps the most influential skateboarder ever. Alva was the first professional skater to drop his board sponsor in '77, and start his very own boarding company 'Alva Skates'. Just like its founder, the brand would go on to become on of the most historically influential skating brands.
His relationship with Vans goes way back. Read more about Vans' rich history in our blog. In '74 Alva officially became a Vans team rider, and shortly after he helped develop the now classic Era skate shoe. Synonymous ever since, Vans and Alva deliver a collection with nods to both iconic brands whilst looking ahead to future generations.
Tony Alva is considered by many to be the godfather of modern-day skateboarding. He was one of the key figures in the transformation of skateboarding from a contest-based 'sport' into the free-wheeling 'art-form' it is today.
