Barena Venezia, a small, family-owned company has significantly influenced the way people dress in and outside of Italy. Before “sprezzatura” and “soft tailoring” became go-to terms for fashion editors, Barena showed us how to dress casually and with class. All Barena’s garments are made with Italian craftsmanship and precision.
Barena are godfathers and godmothers of what people call sprezzatura. This translates to the art of nonchalance. To give you an example; someone who might wear a linen jacket, with an unbuttoned shirt or a t-shirt and a wide pair of matching trousers is someone who masters sprezzatura. It is the effortlessly cool, Italian look that we all wish we could pull off. Barena focuses on this staple pieces like trousers, jackets, shirts and much more.
Inspired by 19th century Venetian workwear and dress code, Barena Venezia is Italian tailoring at its finest. Barena Venezia was established in 1993 by Massimo and Sandro Zara. Before founding the brand, Sandro has over 30 years of experience in the textile industry and fell in love with old Italian tailoring fabrics. Because of this Barena doesn’t only offer functionality in their garments but also adheres to what they call; a fabric-first ethos. This means that they develop and utilise materials that can’t be found anywhere else. Find out more about the origin of Barena Venezia at our blog.
