JUN TAKAHASHI'S UNDERCOVER FOR SS18: HONOURING HARAJUKU
Since the start of our Tenue de Nîmes brand, we have always been inspired by Jun Takahashi's label Undercover. The clothing the Japanese label manufactures is so much more than a selection of garments and accessories; it is a story built around a themed collection which adds identity and context to each individual. Although the brand is around since 1993, it took a decade before Takahashi showed his first collection in Europe and the United States.
Undercover's home base is Tokyo, and more specific, the fancy shopping area of Harajuku. Jun Takahashi, together with Nigo (founder of A Bathing Ape, and now head designer and co-owner of Human Made), was one of the masterminds behind the 'Urahara' movement. A group of young creatives who established Tokyo among the main global fashion hubs. The movement gathered around Cat Street in Harajuku with the illustrious Cream Soda vintage shop as the epicentre. And now, to come around full circle, Takahashi includes a series of collaborative pieces with the shop that functioned as a catalyst for Tokyo as emerging hotspot. Please make sure to check out the latest Undercover pieces. Are you a quick shopper? Then find the Undercover Cream Soda Jacket here.
